If Jonathon and I were to renew our vows – It would look like this. Garrison and Madison planned the perfectly balanced day. It was pure love and devotion that flowed through from “getting ready” to “reception”. I could definitely feel the emphasis on the bride and groom making memories and cherishing the day for each other and not just for other people.
The heartfelt vows that were shared between the two of them before the ceremony and the quick slip away from the reception for a private first dance had my heart up in knots because they unapologetically wanted these moments between themselves, zero distractions, and un phased by the expectations of anyone else present.
After 10 years of marriage, I can appreciate the wisdom and devotion that it took to take a step back and know how important it is to find a balance between enjoying your wedding day alongside the most important people in your life and staying in the moment with the one that you’ve just made a covenant with. This is a HARD balance, but they nailed it.
Most importantly, we saw two believers enter into covenant marriage with each other before God and their closest friends and family. After the hustle and bustle of wedding planning fades, the honeymoon comes to an end, and all of the excitement is in the rearview mirror – I see two faithful believers that will grow in their relationship with Christ and as they grow in sanctification they will find themselves more and more committed to one another through the trails and the mundane.
Madison and Garrison, I pray that you find yourselves in awe of the one who holds all things together, the one who is worthy of all glory and praise; through that awe and reverence, I pray that you would be drawn together in a mingling of souls that only a believing marriage can offer. Marriage will shape you because it will show you where you are weak and where your spouse is amazingly strong.
We are so blessed to have been a part of one of the most meaningful days of your lives – There are so many more to come! This is just the beginning!
