This was more than a wedding.
This was a gift to a father from his loving family. The gift was this…
Memories.
I realized that my involvement in Emily + Terry’s intimate wedding ceremony was going to be one of the most important projects of my career. The family contacted me about photographing the intimate ceremony in St. Mary’s, Georgia in the Cumberland Harbor neighborhood and filled me in on the details. Emily’s dad has an illness that is holding him back from attending Emily and Terry’s “big” wedding this fall. The future event is going to be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (CRAAAZY. I grew up in that area!) and Dad is just not going to be able to make the trip.
But…
The heart of these siblings. Along with their mom, and other friends and family that decorated and planned *beautifully*. They put together a pre-wedding event that their Dad could be apart of with them. There were lots of flights, organized planning, and the best part is that we had sunshine for the first time in over a week and a half! It was absolutely appropriate for the celebration of the love between Emily and Terry, but also for the memories that they were blessed to bring their Dad into.
My heart is heavy and full at the same exact time. What we do is so intimate and so personal. We are allowed a glimpse into the real lives of wonderful, thoughtful people. My prayer today is for a liver to be made available for Emily’s Dad. For Peace. and for relief among the family as they watch their dad live many, strong years.
Emily + Terry, thank you for the most wonderful afternoon! Your Milwaukee wedding is going to be EXCELLENT if it was anything like today. Enjoy your first set of many, many photos – from this photographer to the next one! 🙂
