This was a special one for us. It’s not often that we get to capture such an intimate, personal ceremony amongst our own friends that feel like family. Jonathon and I have watched Devon grow into a woman with a beautifully big heart to serve. We witnessed with our own eyes over the years, her desire to put others before herself and to give glory to Christ in all things. Devon has always been in the background of our church, even as a young lady, serving with passion alongside her beautiful mother, Jessica. To see God bless her with a young man that shares these same character qualities, just touches my heart. This family has been through a lot these past few years. We’ve been celebrating Ben and Devon even before their wedding day because the match was just TOO perfect! Now, on June 3rd, we celebrated officially as they said their vows and committed their lives to one another before friends and family.
This bride planned her wedding SO well that she was slightly bored with down time before all of the events of the day rolled out. That’s right. She wanted to start the timeline EARLY. So, that’s what we did! We got the ball rolling a little bit early. We bobbed and weaved through some bumps along the day (like any wedding, there are always pop up bumps along the way that you just can’t plan for! Right?). Through the hustle of getting ready and portraits, I heard whispers of private prayers between two mothers – getting ready to give their children into marriage. I heard whispers of prayers amongst the wedding party for strength and blessings on the wedding day. And I saw that beautiful, Christ-centered character shine through once again as the couple turned their hearts to trust that even through the unplanned mishaps, this day would not be characterized by frustrations. They chose joy and I saw it with my own eyes.
Spoiler alert: The ceremony light was GORGEOUS. Thunder was in the distance before the ceremony, but there wasn’t a drop of rain!
I’ve got to mention the first look – I don’t even have a lot of words for it. These two are so in love and you can see it through their interactions. SCROLL and see these first look images. I’m obsessed! There were massive emotions throughout the day that came out through many tears and a lot of laughter. I’ll be cherishing this experience looooong into my career as a photographer! (They’re not ALL like this!)
The team for this wedding was a dream – The venue owners at The Hunter Barn were so attentive to the details of the day. The grounds were beautifully thought through and I could definitely see their heart to serve. Thank you Ernest and Brooklyn Hunter – Your hard work shows!!
The catering by Creative Catering & Design was above & beyond and the florals by Kings Bay Flowers made the entire barn smell like we were right in the shop. We appreciate the level of professionalism it takes to make these things happen. Thank you vendors!
I also wanted to add one more thing – This wedding was a debut of our very own! Jess Petrie Photography has added videography to the team! Phillip and Chelsie Kinsey worked alongside Jonathon and I like we’ve been doing this together for years. I’ve got chills just thinking about what’s about to be produced by the videography team! This is the first of many!
Thank you, Ben and Devon. This day blessed our hearts. Jonathon and I feel so fulfilled to have been apart of such a special, intimate day. We hope you cherish these images for a lifetime! (We know you will!)
